Community

Community is central to permaculture and an important part of Fair Harvest life and culture.

Over the years we have been home to multiple community events as well as collaborating with some active community organisations. Our community involvement shifts and changes with our commitments and life, but here are a few ways we engage with our local community.

For five years we were the home to the Margaret River Swap Shuffle Share, a monthly produce swap, since then the Swap has moved to different locations around the region.
In 2013 we ran our first ever Open Edible Garden weekend and were behind this amazing event for the next few years, this is now the amazing Edible Gardens Festival that attracts hundreds of people every year.
Each year we open the venue for International Women’s Day, this is a day for women run by women and changes every year depending on the organisational energy.
We have always been a part of Transition Margaret River, an amazing community group that promotes action and awareness around Sustainability.
Fair Harvest has been home to some amazing Community Festivals inviting people to share skills.
Fair Harvest works closely with Nature Conservation Margaret River for planning revegetation projects on the farm.
We are involved in and support the Margaret River Community Nursery, buying plants for our wetland restoration and reforestation projects.
Fair Harvest is an active member of the Margaret River Business Network, supporting many local small business initiatives.
Jodie is on the board of directors of the local Community Bank Augusta Margaret River and actively involved in funding for community groups.
Dorothee is a new member of the Walcliffe Volunteer Fire Brigade

Keep an eye on our events page to see what’s coming up and how you can be involved.
