When asking our teachers “why permaculture?” the responses are both thoughtful and deeply personal ……..“Existing in the world at the moment feels heartbreaking, weighty and glorious. Permaculture thinking helps me navigate this, and orientate over and over towards a life thats about what really matters. Earth care, people care and future care.” @jemamccabe #thankyou #permaculture #teachers #pdc
I overheard a conversation this morning about someone’s new block looking like a swimming pool and thought id take a drive around town and check out where the water was sitting. Geez there’s a lot of water and what a fabulous opportunity to have a good look at what’s happening, where it’s pooling where it’s sinking and where it’s flowing.
Water is such a big part of permaculture design …. “slow-it, spread it, sink it”. Come and learn more about water and how best you can manage it in your system.
Such a precious resource and one we focus on a lot during our 2 week Permaculture Design Certificate Course! @rod.hughes.18 , Jeff Nugent, PB Foreman and @tigle_house are just some of our teachers with a big focus on water #pdc #permaculturecourse #comingsoon #water #watermanagement
Think design! It’s a cold winter’s day, coat and beanie weather but when I step inside I’m in a singlet, no heating just thoughtful design thanks @paul_boyd_lane design. Every bit of sunshine soaks into the thermal mass of the house. Catch and Store energy, one of the first principles of permaculture. Permaculture isn’t just about gardening it’s about common sense design in all aspects of your life so if you’re thinking about building buying or renovating think about coming along to a PDC where you’ll not only learn about design but get to visit some great examples! Next course coming up soon and has just 3 spots left #pdc #september #permaculture #design #sunshine #letthesunshinein☀️

Let’s look at time. How much time do you have to make a garden, grow an orchard. look after animals, build structures, collect water, make compost. Where to start, what are the priorities. So many of us start with such great intentions but reality can become a little overwhelming. During the Fair Harvest Permaculture Course we encourage you to have a good deep look at your own situation, your family, your work, your community and make choices that really suit you. You don’t have to do it all, you don’t have to burn yourself out trying. Start with yourself zone 00 and work out from there. #pdc #permaculture #course #getitright #gooddecision #permaculturewa #zone00 #lifechoice
This is our dear little pony Balowyn, he’s been on the farm for nearly 30 years now. He’s taught kids to ride, taken them to pony club, done pony rides at schools, given pony rides at the campground and these days is living a happy retirement. Still loved by so many and always up for a cuddle, a brush or a treat. One of the kindest, smartest horses I’ve met #horselove #farmstay #kidspony
Girls on the job. Love the winter months when the campground is closed and we get to do all those little jobs around the farm. By the way the summer holidays are starting to book up so don’t leave it too late, we’re just a little campground. #campground #winter #girlsatwork
Don’t you love a wild winter’s day when you can raid the storeroom instead of the garden.
We have an egg abundance which got me started on a pasta making mission then I just started thinking about all those wonderful jars waiting for a day like today!!

This is a fantastic course!

This is a fantastic course!! The whole two weeks (classes, breaks and other activities) are very well structured and thought through. The experience of sharing space, time and meals with other like-minded people is wonderful. The course offers a variety of teaching styles (from different teachers) and provides the opportunity to see the implementation of permaculture principles in many different ways (which is very useful and makes it relevant to everyone participating). Fair Harvest is a showcase in itself of the application of everything Jodie and Do believe in, it’s a beautiful example of the permaculture principles at play. I would highly recommend this course to EVERYONE, whether they are interested in their property or not.

Contributing to a better world

Doing a PDC at Fair Harvest has expanded my way of thinking - I'm leaving with practical tools and a deep spiritual connection to direct my course of action for contributing to a better world.

Everyone, 9-99 years old should do this course

Everyone, 9-99 years old should do this course. The blessing of immersing yourself in the knowledge of the teachers is something that I will forever cherish and be grateful for. This has already changed my life and I expect it will never stop changing me. I found a community of love, transparency and joy in a mixed bag of age and backgrounds. Jodie and Do are beautiful souls and share so much… and thank you for all the nourishing food.

Permaculture Design Certificate

I expected to enjoy this course and I expected to learn things, but it turned out to be far more than that. It was two weeks of being immersed in living and breathing permaculture with different people with a common goal.  Permaculture principles are a map for living a fulfilling life and I am grateful to Jodie and Do for facilitating this life changing experience.

Permaculture Design Certificate - May 2016

A fantastic course in a fantastic setting.  Wonderful ordinary people from all walks of life coming together with an open mind wanting to learn about permaculture and ways of integrating more sustainable practices into their lives.  You walk away from this not only with many great ideas, tons of new knowledge but also with some great new friends.  Loved it. Still loving it.  So excited about what’s coming next.

Permaculture Design Certificate - grow our food, recycle and reuse

I wanted to learn about permaculture without really knowing why, so I attended the Intro to Permaculture course and then I knew I needed to know more.  So I signed up for the PDC thinking a bit of it would apply to me - and it has opened up a new world of information, friends and new recipes for cooking plants / fruits I have never heard of before.  The course has helped me understand how important it is for all of us to do our bit, from where we are, with what we have, to grow our food, recycle and reuse our resources, and celebrate the gift of life.

Permaculture Design Certificate - a life changing experience

Thanks to Jodie and Do (and all the other teachers) for giving me the most incredible, life changing experience over the course of the PDC.  There’s no going back now and I can’t wait to start using all the amazing knowledge about permaculture I have gained because of it.  I am so grateful to have had this opportunity.

Permaculture Design Certificate - about the catering...

So yummy! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you had to put into making so many amazing meals.  And also thank you for introducing so many new and wonderful fruits and vegetables. -   Loved the food.  Thank you for making my taste buds sing! Yum! Thank you for cooking some of the yummiest, healthiest food I’ve ever eaten… was so wonderful seeing fresh produce from the garden turned into the amazing food we ate over the PDC.

Courses with Camping - loved the compost shower!

Camping during the Permaculture Design Certificate Lovely campsite, enjoyed the birdlife around us and the awesome designs around everywhere.  Shower worked very well, using it as well as the compost toilet was surprisingly a great experience and very pleasant.  Great ideas I got from that.  I enjoyed that there were no restrictions (other than private areas) as where we were allowed to go on the property. Was great wandering around and getting inspired. Loved the compost shower! Loved the venue - a true example of community space for all.

I wouldn't hesitate

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this PDC course to anyone.  The introduction was thorough and inspiring, and the PDC had such a great range of teachers that have a really broad range of experience, which gave a lot to us as students with out range of permaculture experience.  I'd been meaning to get around to doing a PDC for about 10 years and it was well worth the wait!

Scoutt

Gave me hundreds of ideas

It's a great validation about things I'd intuited about what's right for our land and is pretty spot on.  But even better, the course gave me hundreds more ideas to build on when thinking out a sustainable bigger plan.  Thanks Jodie and Do.
